Why black & white, when we see the world in color?
B&W, by eliminating the distraction of color, helps to simplify an image and make clear the structure or meaning of an image. In addition because B&W is already a departure from reality, it can give the photographer 'license' to explore his or her creativity in ways that color photography does not.
